WHAT WE DO

I. ECP's momentum propelled its expansion to three additional schools this past fall 2007; to both the Capitol Hill and Parkside Campuses of the Cesar Chavez Public Charter Schools for Public Policy and the SEED Public Charter School. Spring 2008 marks the launch of two additional in-school models to build on the success of the after-school programs.

II. Organize ECP's curriculum, which includes credit and credit cards, savings and banking, insurance, housing, and financial markets, among other topics, into educationally sound lesson plans.

III. Integrate ECP's program into 10th, 11th and 12th grade curricula through an 8-10 week program. ECP brings its program into schools through an after-school setting or during the school day.

IV. Provide resources for educators in DC Public and Charter Schools to incorporate components of the ECP curriculum, and other financial education materials, into the framework of routine lesson plans.

V. Mobilize university students and MBA candidates in DC, who are committed to affecting social change in LMI areas, to be volunteer teachers of ECP's curriculum. These Classroom Leaders, who are trained in the curriculum by ECP's staff and Board Members, along with ECP interns, come from the University of Maryland, American, Georgetown, George Washington and Howard Universities.

Volunteer teachers, who are trained in the curriculum by ECP staff and Board Members, come from Georgetown University and Howard Univesity.
