January 23rd, 2008 - DC City Council Hearing on Financial Literacy:
Hearing testimony to determine necessity of creating council on financial literacy for DC Public and Charter School systems

February 4th, 2008 - Launch ECP Community Action Project, combining policy research and financial education at the Parkside Campus of CCPCS

February 19th, 2008 - Launch of ECP's day-time study hall financial literacy seminar at the Capitol Hill Campus of CCPCS

March 3-12, 2008 - Launch of ECP after-school programs at McKinley Tech, CCPCS Parkside and Capitol Hill Campuses

Thursday, December 6th, 2007 – ECP Fall 2007 Recognition Ceremony High-school participants, university volunteers, community supporters along with the ECP board and staff came together to celebrate the achievements and commitment of both students and teachers alike for completing an eight-week course in financial literacy. Highlights included comments from Dr. Youngho Lee, Chair of the Finance, Insurance and International Business Department at Howard University as well as from Mr. Wayne Curtis, Founding Partner of Curtis Concepts, LLC. To conclude the evening, ECP participants lined up to receive their awards and announced both their own name and the identified where they planned on going to college. The energy was felt for the duration of the evening as students were praised for their participation and enthusiasm.

July/August 2007
Through four sessions in July and August, ECP hosted a group of Summer Bridge Panelists who presented career-advice and life perspective to entering freshmen at McKinley Technology High School. Students heard from representatives of FOX News, Lockheed Martin, and Family Health International.

Monday, May 14, 2007
ECP's 2nd annual Recognition Ceremony was held on Monday, May 14th at 6:30 pm. Guest speakers included Colleen Daley, Executive Director of Capitol Area Asset Builders, Matthew Ware, an ECP Classroom Leader, an ECP participant and Marie Mann-Bibbs of City First Bank, who delivered the keynote with energy and inspiration.

ECP officially kicked off its fall financial literacy program by welcoming its partners from in and around DC to McKinley Tech High School on May 22nd, 2006. Judy Feder, candidate for congress from the tenth district of Virginia, addressed the audience.
